Craniosacral Therapy in Nottingham & Leicester
How long will each session last and how many sessions will I need?
Craniosacral therapy sessions last an hour for the first appointment and 45 minutes for following appointments. The number of sessions you will need depends on the condition being treated. Initially I recommend sessions are weekly or fortnightly with a review at the third and sixth session. Usually patients will feel substantial benefits after 6 – 10 sessions.
Babies and children under12: the first session is 45 minutes and further sessions are 30minutes. Babies and young children usually respond in 3 – 4 sessions.
What happens during a Craniosacral therapy session?
You will lie fully clothed comfortably on a treatment couch. The treatment is very relaxing and you will become aware of sensations in your body, these include warmth, tingling, waves of relaxation and subtle movements. As treatment progresses you can experience a deep relaxation and a sense of calm and stillness.
The therapist will be holding your head, spine (upper and lower) and feet during treatment. Craniosacral therapy is completely safe and non – invasive. It is led by the reactions from your body, so you will remain comfortable and in control. Babies and young children can be treated being held by a parent, and can be awake, being fed, asleep. The main criteria is that the session is lead by the baby / child’s needs.
